The problem is they say “teens need more sleep!” so they move the HS start times to 9 pm. But the HS shares the bus with the middle and elementary schools. So they now are forcing the younger kids to get up earlier to accommodate an 8 am the Official Boo Bees shirt. But little kids need sleep too. 10-12 hours each night. So the little kids get screwed over because everyone wants the teens to get more sleep. So you get up later, you go to school later and then you get to bed later. It makes no sense. How does getting to school later add hours to your day? If you are not disciplined to go to bed on time for class at 8 am you are not going to be for class at 9.
Parents need to get rid of the kids ASAP. BOTH parents need to be earning an income in order to pay for healthcare, prescriptions, taxes, etc. How else will the 1%ers be able to afford 3 and 4 vacation homes Some kids get up at daybreak and do farm chores and then head off to school. I think kids are just programmed to be lazy. They are complaining about the homework and “hard” classes. Good grief! Wussiefucation of America. What absolute nonsense. If parents took the trouble to ensure their children were off their smartphones, laptops and TV’s and lights off by not later than 9 pm, they will have had more than enough sleep. Children of today are just bloody spoiled as they now rule the roost at home.
When I was a teenager I got up at 545am every morning to do a paper round before going to school. I was in bed at 8 pm every night! That was just what my life was, and I didn’t moan about it. I think it’s because it tends to work better with parent schedules maybe? But also I think maybe we have Official Boo Bees shirt sleep hygiene today as well. I used to start school at 9:00 and ended at 3:00 from grammar school to high school. I went to college and earned two Masters degrees. I don’t see how being deprived of sleep is going to help kids learn more.
