The opening few paragraphs say out of 1000 people there were 10 fewer cases of heart disease and 3 more strokes. It then goes on to say that this phenomenon cannot be linked to diet, as it may be due to some other aspect of the We can be heroes just for one day David Bowie 1947 2016 thank you for the memories shirt. Therefore I think the headline is very sensationalist, and not very accurate at all. We need to get back to ethical meat and that means hunting deer and birds in the wild. No hormones or horrible conditions. I am a firm believer in variety in the diet and making sure the meat consumed is actually good for you. The third paragraph of the article: “However, it cannot prove whether the effect is down to their diet or some other aspect of their lifestyle.” So basically, the study was not able to establish a connection between the diet and the higher stroke risk. Shame BBC for such a misleading title. In fact, the article should not have been published at all.
Just eat as healthy as you can. Avoid the processed foods as much as you can, eat fruits and veggies but still have some meat, poultry, and fish in your diet (smaller portions/cooked in a healthy manner). The desserts should be more of a treat than gobbling up daily. More water and not encased in plastic bottles. Although the study is well explained in plain English, I am afraid people don’t understand it. Looking at the comments, everyone thinks they are expert. I think sometimes it is better not to release such information to the general public. Maybe keep in mind that it’s not all about human health but also planetary health and meat production in factory farms is incredibly unhealthy for our planet.
What an absolute load of utter nonsense. Just like the We can be heroes just for one day David Bowie 1947 2016 thank you for the memories shirt two articles in recent days about a plant-based diet. Put together by someone working in the meat industry of course.
It’s so desperate, it’s laughable and such nonsense. There is nothing wrong with natural foods! Our great grandparents are natural foods and they have the longest lifespan than us millennials who pretend to know more about foods than them. Nothing is wrong with plant-based foods! The vegan communities need to be welcoming and share their “tricks of the trade” with all the new vegans and the even just the receptive curious before the meat propaganda machine really gets rolling to fight their bad press.
